This colorful and elegant ceramic plate takes on a jovial feel as a caricatured flute player is surrounded by a very animated background. With gorgeous greens and blues set against white, this work pops out at the viewer. A rather full composition compared to Picasso's other ceramic works, this flute player is begging for your attention.

Created in 1951, this turned dish of white earthenware clay with decoration in oxides on white enamel (blue, green, yellow). From the edition of 40, this work features the inscribed stamps: 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO' on verso.
