Pablo Picasso Chouette (Wood-Owl), 1969

Painterly brush strokes are expressively strewn across the body that wonderfully accentuate the bulbous curves of the vase and denote a corporeal form. With a limited color palette, this stunning work lets Picasso's artistic handling shine through.

Created in 1969, this white earthenware clay turned vase with engobe decoration (brown,white) engraved by boring-rod under partial brushed glaze with black patina. From the edition of 250, this work is inscribed 'MADOURA EDITION PICASSO' and stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EDITION PICASSO' pottery stamps on the bottom.
