Abstract

A 20th century western art movement where artists diverted from realistic and accurate depictions of nature and figures. Impressionists were some of the first abstract artists, moving then into greats like Picasso and Braque. Abstraction gave birth to many other more distinct movements such as Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, and Conceptual art, among others.
