Miró actively engages the viewer in this politically charged work, encouraging him or her to constantly find new form and meaning within the composition. The black figure at the center appears as a thick, all encompassing mass with colorful contents trapped within and surrounding it. Miró sets this figure against a white background, placing the importance on the words written below: Ja ajudeu la cultura catalana (Help Catalan Culture).
Created in 1974, this color lithograph is hand-signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right. Numbered from the edition of 75, this work was created for use by Òmnium Cultural in junction for the Catalan Culture promotion in Barcelona.
