Historical Description

Joan Miró Homenatge a Joan Prats, 1971 is an extraordinary example of Miro’s ability create a work of art with humorous and quite mystical qualities. The lines and curves follow contorted designs of various shapes and sizes. There is an active component to this particular work where Miró’s hand and mind synthesize and translates onto an eccentrically creative work of art. Each form, shape, color, design, or patterns are distinct.

Erratically placed are the bright colors that consist of green, blue, red, and yellow. Black is heavily used along with playful spots of colors. There are small asterisk symbols that fill up empty pockets of space while ladder shapes are attached to thicker forms. Tastefully rendered, we get a glimpse into the endless imagination of Joan Miró and how his legacy continues to thrive to this day.

Created in 1971, Joan Miró Homenatge a Joan Prats, 1971 is a color lithograph on Guarro paper. Hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 – Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right margin, this work is numbered from the edition of 150 in the lower left margin.
