Vibrant bursts of red, blue and green dominate the composition of Joan Miró’s Souris Rouge a La Mantilla (Red Mouse with Mantilla), 1975. True to the title, the central character of the image is a red mouse. Viewers can easily discern its curious, wide open eyes by their brilliant yellow hue. In the background, colorful geometric shapes and painterly black splatters showcase Miro’s iconic artistic style.

Created in 1975, this color aquatint on Arches paper is hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 – Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right margin. Numbered from the edition of 50 in pencil in the lower left margin, published by Maeght, Paris and printed by Morsang, Paris.
