| Historical Description: | |
Created in 1969, this original acrylic on wood panel is signed by Yvaral (1934 – 2002) on the back of the panel in green ink with its unique archival number: “N° 1037 | YVARAL | ‘Polygammes B V’ | 1969 | YVARAL.” Equilateral triangles are delineated in infinite numbers throughout the surface of this composition; they are further echoed in the color arrangement that ebbs and flows from green to blue to white in varying hues. This three-dimensional illusion against a two-dimensional plane makes this the perfect example for Yvaral as one of the most unique Op Artist of the 21st century. Yvaral’s work is best known for the gridded effects he creates that break up an image or become the entire image itself as seen with this work. Catalogue Raisonné & COA: 1) Recorded in the Yvaral archives as #1037. 2) A Masterworks Certificate of Authenticity will be included with the sale of the work. | |

Biography of Jean Pierre Vasarely Yvaral
Combining the poetry of geometry with figurative art, Yvaral has created a wholly original body of artworks that has received the praise of important critics and museum curators around the world.
Born in France, Yvaral grew up in a complete artistic ambiance. Working alongside his father, Victor Vasarely, he discovered and explored the beauty of geometry in art. The inspiration of the French Impressionists and Pointillists is evident in Yvaral's vibrant paintings. The artist juxtaposes pure colors next to one another to achieve the illusion of three-dimensional forms.
