Picasso showcases his mastery of painting on ceramics as he drafts a simple fish with the same grace and mastery as he would with watercolors. Grey-blue and transparent scarlet washes glide effortlessly against the opalescence of the white clay. The colors and drawing are no doubt subtle, but it is this easiness that allows the ceramic can be enjoyed for its humble sophistication.

Created in 1956, this original round bowl of white earthenware clay, decoration in engobes and oxide under glaze (yellow, light green, blue, red, black, ochre) is a unique color variant from the edition of 300. This work is annotated 'EDITION PICASSO,' with the inscribed stamps with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EDITION PICASSO' pottery stamps on the reverse.
