Historical Description

Circles of varied hues envelop one another in the center of the piece while strong, linear strokes appear as leaves emerging from these central circles towards the plate's border. These outward strokes create a sense of repetition or consistency within this hypnotizing work. Picasso creates a work full of energy and liveliness that encourages our eye to jump around the surface of the plate, from the center circles out towards the plate's edge.

Created in 1963, this original round plate of white earthenware clay with decoration in engobes and enamel (black, blue, red) is knife engraved under glaze. From the edition of 150, this work is inscribed 'Edition Picasso' and 'Madoura' on the reverse.
