Pablo Picasso Cavalier Vase, 1952
A truly climactic work, Pablo Picasso Cavalier and Horse, 1952 highlights astounding mastery of the ceramics medium. Incredibly detailed and exquisitely designed, this marvelous piece truly stands out in Picasso's artistic oeuvre. Intricate lines and bold coloration delineate the figures of a valiant cavalier and his beautiful horse. Against a pristine white background, the cavalier calmly leads his mount. On one side of this piece, we witness the magnificent black steed, whose saddle and bridle are intricately rendered, while, on the other side, we view a lovely tree, conveyed through soft applications of green and red-brown hues. At the front of the pitcher, we observe the cavalier, standing tall with his sword at his side, the epitome of courage and valor.
