Paying homage to love, Chagall once again transports us into an amazing dreamlike world were we find a married couple in the throes of an embrace celebrating their union. With two angels flying above and Paris floating away in the background the couple remains the focus, as it should be. In what any other work would seem overwhelming, the red coloration appears subdued here, a true testament to the masterful and inspiring imagery that Chagall excelled at creating.
Created in 1975, this color lithograph was used for a poster advertising the Musée National Message Biblique Marc Chagall in Japan. Hand signed by Marc Chagall (Vitebsk, 1887 - Saint-Paul, 1985) in pencil in the lower right margin and numbered from the edition of 200 in pencil in the lower left margin, this color lithograph was published by Editions des Amis du Message Biblique marc Chagall, Nice.
