Historical Description

Marc Chagall Le Bouquet Rouge et Jaune (The Red and Yellow Bouquet), 1969 is a charming and uplifting image. A bountiful bouquet of colorful flowers bursts forth in this stunning print. Sticking to his trademark style, Chagall utilizes soft black outlines to keep the colors in harmony allowing for the composition to come alive. A voluptuous composition, the bouquet captures the eye but subtly to the right is a couple embracing. Nearly all the space is utilized, filled with soft, arched forms that contribute to the elegant and beautiful nature of this magnificent piece.

Created in 1969, this color lithograph with an Arches watermark is hand-signed by Marc Chagall (Vitebsk, 1887 - Saint-Paul, 1985) in pencil in the lower right. Numbered from the edition of 50 in pencil in the lower left; there are also 25 artist’s proofs.
