Historical Description

Andy Warhol Fish, 1983 puts a pop art spin on the ubiquitous nautical silhouette. Outlining the gills, fins, and tail in glowing white strokes and  stacking the repeated form vertically in a dynamic arrangement, Warhol has given the mundane subject a stylistic freshness, attesting to the artist's unparalleled ability to breathe a unique beauty into anything he touched.

Created in 1983 this screenprint on wallpaper is an unpublished print from an unknown edition. Printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York. Created as a backdrop for the exhibition "Paintings for Children" at the Bruno Bischofberger Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland.
