Similar in style to some other works in this series, the Dancers portrayed prancing across the face of this dish are conveyed with a lightness in movement in this minimalist composition. The glazed white figures of the graceful dancers against the matte brown surface add distinct depth and range of dimensionality to this work. It is a happy, whimsical piece sure to bring a smile to the viewer's face. Its similar cousin of the series features the same subject matter, with the white and brown colors reversed.

Created in 1956, this Madoura small convex wall plaque of white earthenware clay, engraving accentuated with glaze, black patinated ground (ivory, brown) bears the publisher's stamps on the underside: 'Madoura plein feu' and 'Empreinte originale de Picasso' and is from the edition of 500.
