Historical Description

As if to reference a window into the world of his own creation, Marc Chagall has skillfully and beautifully crafted yet another dazzling work that gives us a glimpse into a nostalgic, Parisian way of life. Incredibly romantic and evoking a wistful charm, Chagall uses subtle tones of sky blues and muted greys contrasted with bright yellows, greens, and varying tones of pinks and reds. It is a lively and colorful piece, placing the viewer amidst the world which Chagall seems to have created for only us, looking out onto the cityscape of his own creativity and imagination.

Created in 1975, this work was published out of the edition of 50 signed and numbered proofs on Japon nacreous paper. Hand-signed by Marc Chagall (1887 - 1985) in pencil in the lower right margin the piece is numbered 30/50 in pencil in the lower left margin. Published by Ch. Sorlier, Graveur.
