Historical Description

Composed of transparent Plexiglas, this square tower is truly multi-faceted. Parallel wavy black lines along each of the four faces communicate a sense of motion in Vasarely's trademark style while also providing for an element of interaction. On two sides are rearing Zebras facing different directions that give a sense of story. While the other two sides convey an optic image that relays a sense of three dimensionality and motion, as if the geometric image is either receding or emerging out towards the viewer. All sides of this tower relay the impression of slight fluctuating motion, toying with the viewer's visual perception.

This original acrylic and silkscreen sculpture is numbered 169/200 in black pen on the bottom of one side. This work comes with its own custom-made acrylic/Lucite base.
