Historical Description

In the fascinating Rembrandt The Artist Drawing from a Model, c. 1647, Rembrandt uses an array of styles and finesse to depict an intimate scene of the artist's studio. With an understated grace, a female nude materializes from crosshatched shadows and delicate outlines. Sometimes called the unfinished plate, this extraordinary work shows a drawing in process, emerging before your eyes.
