Historical Description

Pablo Picasso Personnages (Figures), 1956 is a rare and marvelous ceramic bowl that exudes charm and character with its varied embellishments. This striking ceramic bowl comes alive with color as its dramatic figures along the inner rim appear to dance within. Evoking a sentimental Spanish tradition, this piece would make a fine addition to any collection. The golden Mediterranean sun radiates it brilliant warmth to the dancing figures decorating the inner rim of the bowl. The figures each appear to hold brilliantly colored golden flowers. Delicate placed gold lines further emphasize these figures which are colored in black. Throughout the image, each figure appears differently, some even appear to be wearing dresses. These slight details effortlessly enchant viewers into gazing longer at such a varied composition. Accented by decorative engravings coupled with yellows, reds, and blacks, the colors also provide an eye-catching display against the muted white tones of the earthenware clay. The figures are, above all, energetic and full of movement as they dance around the dazzling sun; the bowl is finished with a smooth shine, allowing it to twinkle with highlights and lowlights throughout.
