Pablo Picasso Pitcher with Birds, 1962

Beautiful black birds flit around the center of this magnificent pitcher. Birds were one of Picasso's favorite subjects, and he highlights their carefree nature perfectly in this lovely ceramic. Rich in contrast with soft, graceful linework, Pitcher with Birds is the perfect addition to any collection.

Created in 1962, this white earthenware clay turned pitcher is decorated in engobes (black, white, red patina) under partial brushed glaze. This piece is from the edition of 200 and is inscribed 'EDITION PICASSO MADOURA' with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EDITION PICASSO' pottery stamps on the underside.
