Pablo Picasso Face, 1968- 1969

A whimsical portrait with bold contrasts, this work appeals to our response to texture, depth and space. There is a wonderful interplay between line and circle, as these lines and circular forms converge to create a charming face with round eyes, a long nose, and delicate lips. The face is framed by four sets of tri-circle impressions that mimic fingerprints. The fingerprint-like patterns bring life and interest to the piece, making the presence of the artist more apparent and exciting.

Created in 1968-1969, this original square plaque of red earthenware clay, printed with black engobe pad is from the edition of 200. This work is stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO' pottery stamps on the reverse.
