A magical creature that delights in lust and drink, the centaur fascinated Pablo Picasso. Frolicking in the center of this yellow dish, a centaur rears up and almost appears to wave out at us with glee. Instilled with a sense of animation and liveliness, this is a truly eye catching and enchanting work.

Created in 1956, this original round dish of white earthenware clay with decoration in engobes (yellow, red, green, black) under partial brushed glaze is from the edition of 100. This work is stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO' pottery stamps on the reverse.
