Historical Description

Pablo Picasso Bunch with Apple, 1956

A charming still life of a flower-filled vase and a leafy apple tilted on its side meets the eye in Bunch with Apple. Falling at mirrored angles, the flowers' stems and apple's leaves echo the rounded edges of the plate. Casting a shadow of tapered lines, the vase acts as a strong vertical anchor in the rounded composition. Bunch with Apple demonstrates Picasso's easy sense of composition and his ability to transform an everyday item into a work of art.

Created in 1956, this round/square plate of white earthenware clay is from the edition of 100. This work is stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and 'EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO' pottery stamps on the reverse.
