Historical Description

Pablo Picasso Bull's Profile, 1956

Utilizing clean-cut lines and a strong color contrast of black against white, Picasso depicts the profile of a bull. Adding a sense of texture to the piece, the lines are frayed conveying the feel of the bull's fur and horns. These dark lines contrast sharply against the white background, causing the image of the bull to stand out to the viewer. The bull appears as a strong and imposing figure, yet expresses such a tenderness that one can't help but to feel a connection.

Created in 1956, this work is one of 450 copies produced by Madoura. This piece is inscribed with the 'Madoura Plein Feu' and 'Empreinte Originale de Picasso' stamps on the underside of the plate.
