Historical Description

Dark, textured strokes combine to form an abstract form which immediately draws the eye. The background is even more impressive, a lush combination of cobalt blue against a vibrant splatter of reds and pinks. The most striking aspect of the work is the intense contrast these dark shades of colors produce. Unlike many of Miró’s other prints which are typically set against a simple black background, this work is unabashedly singular in its complexity.

Created in 1969, this color lithograph is hand-signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right. Numbered from the edition of 75 in pencil in the lower left; published by Galerie Maeght, Paris and printed by Arte Adrien.
