Historical Description

Happiness radiates from every element of this work, as Miró imagines a surreal character with an eyeball as his head, and a green and yellow grin. Bright and graphic pops of color decorate his flamboyant and festive outfit; while swirling expressive brush stroke animates a gestural stance greet the viewer with open arms. One can guess that Miró derived much fun making the drawing as he demonstrates the joys of experimenting with abstraction that showcase his whimsical charm that is so deliberately spontaneous.

Created in 1973, this color aquatint is printed on Arches paper, and is hand signed in pencil by Joan Miro (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in the lower right corner. An artist proof aside from the edition of 50, it bears the inscription HC in pencil in the lower left corner.
