Joan Miró L'Étranglé, 1974 is a highly animated work of art that is flooded with absurdities and playful shapes. There are sudden, interrupted lines that give a sense of immediacy. Spontaneity is the essence of the entire work where we see jagged and curvilinear lines that are quite similar to musical notes. There is incredible diversity in texture which reverberates in between the black spaces. The polka dots enhance the strong black vine that soars upwards towards the sky. The focal point lies within the ominous eye, encircled by a bold red outline. Perched up between the branch-like vine, it entrances the viewer in such a way that it is hard look away. Sharp, focused, and pure are simple but bold words that accurately describes this piece. Even the colors that Miró uses are vibrant and evoke a sense of exhilaration. Joan Miró brings forth a master piece that liberates the viewer into a world of wild imagination and intrepid resurgence of shape, form, and color.
