Historical Description

This color etching is the product of collaboration between the artist Joan Miró and writer Xavier Domingo. Dating to an especially fruitful period near the end of his life, this work also bears comparison to his contemporary large-scale paintings. In this work, delicate etched lines lead the eye in different directions across the sheet. The luminous orbs of color that the artist loves to create with aquatint add a fantastic dimension to the composition.

Created in 1974, this color etching and aquatint on Japon paper is hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 – Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right and numbered from the edition of 15 on Pearl Japan in pencil in the lower left; there were also 30 copies on Auvergne Richard-de-Bas, numbered from 16 to 45 , and 125 copies on Arches Vellum numbered from 46 to 170.
