Set against a dark purple background of California grass, the butterfly stands out electrically, its bright orange spots and energetic white outline giving it an eye-catching glow. The work is a part of Warhol's Endangered Species Series which sympathetically showcases various endangered animals, from frogs to zebra, all depicted in Warhol's signature pop style.
