Andy Warhol San Francisco Silverspot from the Endangered Species Series, 1983 is a splendid close-up of a butterfly, its elegant wings filling the compositional space from edge to edge. Set against a dark purple background of California grass, the butterfly stands out electrically, its bright orange spots and energetic white outline giving it an eye-catching glow. The work is a part of Warhol's Endangered Species Series which sympathetically showcases various endangered animals, from frogs to zebra, all depicted in Warhol's signature pop style.

Created in 1983, this color screenprint on Lenox Museum Board is hand signed by Andy Warhol (Pennsylvania, 1928 - New York, 1987) in pencil in the lower right and numbered from the edition of 150 in pencil in the lower right.
