Historical Description

A landscape of pyramids in bright hues of red, orange, blue, black, and white dot a flat plain in Alexander Calder Pyramids in a Landscape. These pyramids vary in size and color, but all are outlined in Calder's signature bold, black lines, providing a sharp contrast and causing the pyramids to pop out at the viewer. The bold dark horizontal lines across the top of the page create a sense of depth, space, and volume, illustrating the artist's technical skill and mastery of technique in transforming basic shapes and colors into a complex interaction of balance and visual imagery.

This original color lithograph is hand signed by Alexander Calder (Pennsylvania, 1898 - New York, 1976) in pencil in the lower right and numbered from the edition of 75 in pencil in the lower center.
