DISCUSSION:
Spectacular design, technically complicated ceramic structure with exquisite
coloration, this is a truly remarkable ceramic vase.
Created in 1955, this ceramic turned vase was created with white earthenware clay. Decoration in Engobes in blue, black and grey, with glaze inside. From the edition of only 100, this work contains guaranteed authentic 'D' Apres Picasso' and 'Madoura' Stamps on the bottom of the base. Delicate surface in wonderful condition with clear markings on the bottom.
Inspired by traditional utilitarian
vase designs from the south of France, this ceramic vase has been reengineered
to include a complicated circular handle interwoven into the neck of the vase.
This sold construction circle handle merges two designs: a classic jug with
a traditional vase. This type of ceramic constructions is a technical achievement
because of the delicate balance elements necessary to allow the vase to stand
upright, without leaning. Balance is perfectly achieved in this work, as the
vase stands firmly on its own. The delicate color palate of blue, black and
grey, gracefully contributes to the overall sense of harmony and balance within
the work.
FREESTANDING VASE PLACEMENT:
A freestanding ceramic vase is best enjoyed in an environment where it is accessible
from all sides. Pedestals are often an appropriate way to showcase larger ceramic
pieces. In some instances collectors have chosen to encase the freestanding
ceramic under traditional museum bonnets. Museum bonnets are transparent acrylic
cubes constructed with one open side that can be placed over the ceramic as
an added layer of protection from an unpredictable environment. If you are placing
the ceramic in an area where it might be touched or disturbed, the museum bonnet
is an excellent conservation solution that can be custom made to fit over your
ceramic. If you would like more information please contact finepoints@masterworksfineart.com
