CONDITION: This piece is in good condition.
PRICE: $7,500
The relationship between witches and goats dates back to the early centuries of
witch mythology, especially within the Catalonian culture. Witches would often
use goats as their companions and in this case, as a means of transport. Below
this dramatic scene dance a series of cherubs scattered throughout the composition.
The witch is portrayed atop the ram, holding a scepter in one hand and one of
the ram's horns in the other.
Created in c. 1500, this work is a Meder State I (b) impression featuring the monogrammed initials of Albrecht Dürer (1471 - 1528) engraved in the plate in the lower right.

ABOUT THE FRAMING:
Framed in museum-quality, archival materials, this work is set in an Italian
style bronze and gold-leaf frame. The muted tones of the moulding compliment
the black, outer frame and also highlights the tones and textures of the highly
detailed etching. The Witch is completed with white, linen-wrapped mats and
a matching gold inner fillet and finished behind an archival Plexiglas®
cover.
