Historical Description

Toying with texture, Miró creates a fanciful and meaningful work that abounds with formations. The background of the work is a beautiful soft tone, which wonderfully highlights the deep black lines that intersect to form stars. Miró used astral maps for such compositions and they display such a beautiful artistry that it’s easy to see his passion and heartfelt expression within the work.

Created in 1959, this work is hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right and is numbered from the edition of 350 in pencil in the lower left. This work is printed by Mourlot, Paris and published by Pierre Matisse, New York.
