Historical Description

Bold black lines delineate vibrant patches of red, yellow, and blue in this captivating work. This piece appears as if watching us, as we witness red and yellow eyes gazing out. This work relays the impression that the observer is also the observed, breathing a sense of life into Miró's abstract forms. Beneath this playful figure, we witness the text 'Miro…' Even the letters that spell Miró's name appear as animated figures, instilled with a sense of liveliness. In his own whimsical font, Miró pays homage to himself in this delightful piece.

Created in 1974, this work is hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right. An artist's proof annotated HC (Hors de Commerce) in the lower left in pencil (aside from the edition of 75),this work was printed before the lettering edition. This work is printed by Arte Adrien Maeght, Paris and published by Louisiana, Humlebaek.
