There is a fair market value for every authentic work of fine art. This value is contingent upon a variety of factors which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demand and popularity of the artist.
  • Involvement of the artist in the creation of the piece.
  • Connoisseurship of both the artist and the piece.
  • Condition of the piece.
  • For prints, the rarity of the edition.

Masterworks Fine Art, Inc. is able to forego the usual overhead that you will find in retail art galleries. There is no commercial rent or commissioned salesmen at Masterworks. You deal directly with the owner, so we are able to pass on great deals to our clients without burdening them with expensive operating costs.

Every work of fine art is guaranteed authentic through Masterworks Fine Art, Inc. The artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and reliable documentation from trusted resources within the academic and art communities. These documents can be verified through third parties to further authenticate the artwork being purchased.

Bonded Purchases

Masterworks Fine Art, Inc. is honored to be the first art gallery and art dealer to supply a bond. These are independently guaranteed and backed by Buysafe, Liberty Mutual, and Traveler's Insurance; the cost of these bonds is covered in full by Masterworks Fine Art, Inc.  These bonds guarantee that our clients receive exactly what they intended to purchase. $25,000 of each purchase is covered by the following bonds:

Payment

Visa Mastercard American Express Discover Card Paypal

Masterworks Fine Art, Inc. accepts American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, wire transfers, money orders, and checks. We also accept Paypal® (contact us for Paypal® information).  We reserve to the right to refuse credit card shipments to foreign addresses if they do not go to the verified billing address. No art can be shipped until it is paid in full, although short-term financing is available by special arrangement.

What We Provide the Purchaser Upon Sale

We strive to provide our clients with the peace of mind that their satisfaction is absolutely paramount to us. To ensure this, our clients receive the following with each purchase:

  • Invoice (Bill of Sale)
  • Original Certificate of Authenticity (COA) issued by the Curator of Masterworks Fine Art, Inc.
  • Appraisals
    • updated annually according to fair market value
  • Documentation of catalogue references pertaining to your purchase
    • copies of references from catalogue raisonnés and other texts are enclosed with your COA which provide added detail and scholarship for your piece

Fees

Shipments to California residents are subject to local sales tax.

We charge actual shipping and insurance costs, plus the cost of the packing materials. We never charge a handling fee.

Shipping

We typically only ship using Federal Express® which assumes full insurance for door-to-door transit of your artwork. Shipping is included in the sale and Masterworks Fine Art, Inc. arranges this for our clients. Should you opt to use a shipper other than FedEx, it is necessary for you to notify us prior to shipping.

Delivery

Purchases typically ship within 3 days of payment clearance. We ship daily, Monday - Friday; delivery arrangements can be made if needed.

You are given the option of Ground shipping (3-5 business days), 3-Day, 2-Day, Standard Overnight or Priority Overnight shipping.

Refunds & Returns

Customer satisfaction is our priority. Full refunds are given if you are not 100% satisfied with the purchase. Returns must be made and Received by MFA within 7 days of receipt, otherwise all sales are final thereafter. Returned items must be in the same condition as when they were shipped, and should be returned via Federal Express®.
